The Reidvale Centre
The Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre, a Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable Status (SC003460), previously known as the South Dennistoun Neighbourhood Centre, was formed in 1977 by a number of local groups who took over an empty building, dating back from the late Victorian era, and provided appropriate accommodation and activities for local people. At this time there were no community facilities of any sort in the area.
The Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre is an active and strong community led organisation that has been the focus for much of the activity in the community for over 30 years.
By 2001, it had become clear that the building was no longer suitable for the scale and range of services and activities which it was expected to provide. In that year, a feasibility study was undertaken into the future of the building. The study entailed wide consultation to ascertain the community requirements of the Centre as well as the opinions of statutory and voluntary organisations.
As a result of this study, architects were commissioned to draw up plans for the major refurbishment of the building and in 2003 staff were appointed to oversee the creation and development of the new Centre. The total cost of the refurbishment was £3.5 million.
Its design and architecture merges both traditional and modern with a eye-catching outcome, the building uses natural light with panoramic windows throughout, the rooms are bright and airy, with a neutral décor, all our rooms can be hired individually or as part of a bigger multi-room event.
The refurbished facility contains a variety of spaces over three floors, providing high quality accommodation catering to the educational, training and social needs of the community. The facility includes:
The Centre has a Licensed Bar in the Main Function Hall and can be booked for your event, our Community Cafe and Kitchen can cater for your event from simple lunches to sit down meals and buffets.
